Lahore: In the ninth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings achieved the big target of Multan Sultans by laughing and playing. On behalf of the winning team, Babar Azam batted brilliantly and scored a half-century.
In pursuit of the 196-run target, Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan started the innings for the Karachi Kings, both playing aggressively in the opening overs.
In the fifth ball of 5 overs, opener Sharjeel Khan scored 27 off 14 balls and fell victim to Shahnawaz Dhani. Muhammad Rizwan caught behind the wicket. The second wicket fell to Joey Clarke, the wicket-keeper-batsman returned to the pavilion with 54 off 26 balls. Shahnawaz Dhani’s wicket came.
Karachi Kings suffered their third loss in the form of Colin Ingram, the batsman scored 6 runs and returned to the pavilion on the ball of fast bowler Sohail Khan.
Karachi Kings easily achieved the big target in the 19th over. Babar Azam played a not-out inning of 90 runs. Shahnawaz Dhani took two wickets and Sohail took one.
Earlier, Multan Sultans gave a target of 196 runs to Karachi Kings. Captain Muhammad Rizwan and Chris Lane started the innings for Multan Sultans. Opener Chris Lane batted aggressively and scored 32 runs off 14 balls. His innings included six fours and a six.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion with 43 runs. Sohaib Maqsood scored 34, Riley Russo 7, Khushdal Shah 6, and Shahid Afridi 3 runs.
Arshad Iqbal took 2 wickets for Karachi Kings while Emad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, and Waqas Maqsood took one wicket each.
