Lahore: Pakistan has taken an unequivocal stand regarding the T20 World Cup in India.
Talking to media in Lahore, Ehsan Mani said that if India did not guarantee visas for the Pakistani squad, then they would demand the transfer of the T20 World Cup to UAE, not only to cricketers and support staff but also to journalists and fans. It should be noted that if this is not done then the demand for transfer of mega-event becomes our constitutional right.
He said that BCCI intends to host the World Cup in spite of Corona, hopefully, it will succeed in making arrangements, the Pakistani government never said not to go and play in India but from there politics would be brought to sports. Yes, the PCB wants visas and security assurances to avoid any mishap. The ICC has written a letter to the Indian board asking them to respond by the end of March.
“We have approached the ICC to host international cricket events. We can also plan one or two tournaments with the UAE,” Ehsan Mani said.
He said that air travel between Karachi and Islamabad can take as long as it takes to reach Pakistan from Dubai, so there will be no travel issues in co-hosting the event, a letter of consent from UAE also came. CC has been sent with an expression of interest.
Replying to a question, the PCB chairman said that if the Indian team reached the final of the ICC Test Championship, it would not be possible to hold the Asia Cup this year, it would be planned in 2022 or 2023.
